I like to read books in my free time, here’s what I’m currently reading.
Covenant Theology: Biblical, Theological, and Historical Perspectives
This book is more a compilation of essays from many of the faculty at Reformed Theological Seminary. The book discusses the Biblical covenants, church history, and implications, as well as much more. Though I certainly need to do more reading, I have not yet found a better book than this on Covenant Theology.
Books I’ve enjoyed recently
The Christ of the Covenants – O. Palmer Robertson
Understanding covenant theology can be a fairly difficult endeavor. While the system of theology is quite old and well explored, for those coming from a dispensational background, it can be difficult to understand. Robertson does an excellent job explaining the covenants of scripture: what they would have meant to the original reader, how they fit in to the overarching narrative of the Bible, and what they mean for us today.
Christian Baptism – John Murrary
As I’m currently studying infant baptism, I greatly appreciated learning more about the subject from Murrary’s book. As a lifelong baptist, I grew up thinking and hearing things like “infant baptism is a hold-over from Roman Catholicism” and “there’s no scriptural basis for infant baptism.” Murray’s book puts these objections to rest, delivering a convincing argument for infant baptism from the scriptures.
